As a Raleigh, NC, native, I've loved going to shows produced by the North Carolina Theatre for years. As some of the highest quality productions in North Carolina, NCT attracts crowds from all over the South East and many stars directly from NYC for each and every production. Along with the main theatre company (non-profit), NCT also holds a conservatory in North Raleigh where they teach the next generation of young performers.

SUMMER 2019 INTERNSHIP
In the summer of 2019 I worked as a Public Relations and Marketing Intern for NCT, where I worked on both creative design/video projects, as well as multiple strategic communications projects. The position pushed me out of my creative comfort zone and challenged me to think strategically for the first time outside of college. The internship also granted me the chance of meeting Broadways Stars as they work on regional union shows.
As the PR & Marketing intern, I was tasked with gathering content for the social medias, writing press releases and media alerts (find my writing samples here), creating promotional graphics for upcoming shows, etc. I thoroughly enjoyed working on these projects and grew close to the production staff and managerial staff at NCT and NCT Conservatory. My photography and other work would go on later to be used in promotion emails, newsletters and promotional flyers distributed all around Raleigh and the surrounding areas as well as on social media.
SUMMER 2020 FREELANCE
After my time working with NCT as an intern, I returned to school for the 2019-2020 school year - the year that was interrupted by COVID. All through 2020 NC Theatre was struggling to stay afloat as a non-profit theatre company in a world where theatre was no longer safe to be a part of or enjoy. There were many ways the company worked to stay relevant, but as shows continued to be cancelled and hope for opening the theatre back up kept fading, they needed a large fundraiser in order to stay open through the pandemic.
Around the middle of the summer, NCT reached out to me about an upcoming series they aimed at producing in an effort to raise money for the theatre during the hard times. The series was called "Stargazing" which focused on brining back stars of previous shows in a YouTube series talking about how the theatre had impacted their careers.
After my internship with NCT where I created numerous video and photography projects, the managerial staff asked me to come back to the theatre and help creating graphics for the series and editing the series together. I was honored to be asked to return and ended up creating every episode for the series as well as promotional graphics that work with the existing NC Theatre brand. This was the first freelance project I completed and proved to me how freelance work in design and videography could be a potential path for me in the future.
