Second semester, senior year I had the honor of working with the wonderful team at the Phoenix Club. This Elon Athletics team is responsible for raising funds for student-athletes and the whole Elon Athletics department. As the graphic intern at the Phoenix Club I was able to help the team raise over $1.7 Million over the course of the entire year. In my position I worked with the team to create promotional materials to send to both students and donors, as well as help with promotional mail pieces, and social media content.
Much of what I worked on at the Phoenix Club was for email marketing and social media. For each project or promotion I would create multiple iterations of the same designs that could be used across social media channels and in email campaigns sent directly to donors and students. Below is an example of one of the last campaigns I worked on which promoted the Letter-Winner hat featuring my Elon Letter-Winner patch design. For this project I created two email headers along with the main social media graphic post to all channels.
One of my favorite series of graphics created during my time at the Phoenix Club were those for the yearly Thank-A-Thon. This day long celebration highlighted how grateful Elon student-athletes are for the donors who make their Elon experience a spectacular one. Not only was I asked to create email headers and other social media posts, but also a postcard graphic for students to write a message directly to donors, thanking them for their support. Below is one of the email headers, and the postcard design can be found at the header image of this article. I loved creating these designs and having the artistic freedom I did for this event.
Of corse there were a number of great projects I had the opportunity to work on, though I am unable to include all of them. Below I've included a number of my favorite projects in the Phoenix Club including three Women's and Men's basketball email headers, two Alumni Weekend graphics, and a Membership Deadline poster used in both print and digital formats.
One of the main fundraising events held by Elon University is #ElonDay. Just like every other department in the university, the Phoenix Club was in charge of raising money for Elon Athletics and student-athletes. For me, this involved creating numerous social media posts, physical printouts (such as promotional pieces and large form printouts for posting around the school), email headers, etc. I loved working on these projects! Just on Elon Day I helped raise over $569,000 for Elon Student-Athletes. This was an extraordinary opportunity for me, and it even allowed me to directly see what it was like to be a part of a fundraising team raising money on such a large scale.
